Paprika Theatre Festival

Currently in my 5th season as the General Manager of the Paprika Festival, a performing arts festival celebrating the work of young and emerging artists. Paprika Festival has six professional training programs that culminate in an annual week-long festival of new work created, designed and performed by emerging artists. Paprika holds Accessibility, Community, Artistic Development, and Youth Leadership as its core values.

Accomplishments include:

  • more than doubling Paprika’s operating budget during my tenure despite facing the loss of multiple sources of pandemic recovery funding;

  • increasing Paprika staff, artist, and contractor pay, which has been chronically underfunded;

  • launching a pilot project which, for the first time in Paprika history, provided select program participants with a living wage for their time spent in Paprika programming.

SHH - Single Thread Education

Produced, wrote, and designed the educational curriculum for an immersive theatrical experience prepared for elementary students in Kindergarten-Grade 8.

The experience is designed to place students at the heart of the story; through student-directed, inquiry-based learning, students are empowered to learn more about the untold and often overlooked stories of their own hometown history, and drive the story forward to uncover the mysterious truth of a secret society lost to time. The piece is designed around the Ontario Social Studies Curriculum, and is a school-wide project that is brought directly to the students, engaging them in curriculum content through an immersive narrative, mysterious deliveries, odd-ball characters, and hands-on discoveries. The piece aims to develop empathy and students’ sense of connectedness to their local history and community.

Originally designed in 2020, it was produced by Single Thread Theatre Company and presented as a hybrid/virtual experience in 2021 for a school in rural Ontario. It currently remains in development at Single Thread, with aspirations to produce an in-person version of the project in Spring of 2025.
